Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs launched the new version of iPad 2 in San Francisco on Wednesday.
iPad 2 has a new processor, Apple’s custom A5 dual core system on a chip. It is twice as fast as the iPad 1 and graphics will be up to nine times faster. iPad 2 is thinner by 33%. It is thinner than iPhone 4. It is 8.8mm and it is slightly lighter than 1.3 lbs. Front and rear cameras will be built in. Photo booth, the fun application is also included. The iPad is now HDMI compatible. You can plug it into your TV or a large screen. It will cost a little extra for the HDMI cable converter and it will work with every application. The battery life remains the same which will be the 10 hour range as the original iPad. Apple has also made a couple of cool new iPad 2 cases. Thousands of users have already traded their old iPad for the shiny new one.
The price also remains the same. $499 for the basic 16GB Wi-fi version and $829 for the 3G model with 64GB. It will come in white and the 3G version is available on Verizon and AT&T. It will hit the market on March 11 in US and March, 25 in other countries. As a sale strategy the original iPad’s costs have been slashed down paving way for the newbie. Tablets are seen as a must-have device for consumers and many businesses over the next few years. Analysts expect the market to surge to more than 50 million units this year, and 200 million units by 2015. The tablet has been priced a little lesser than other tablets in the market which has a tough competition with Apple. But Apple will be able to live with this price if this new iPad delivers a startling growth.
