With Apple passionnés eagerly waiting for the tech giant’s conference call on April 20th to paint a clear picture on iPad 2 sales, eBay has given us a peek at the silhoutte of what the sales report will look like. eBay has apparently sold a whopping 12,000 units in just 2 weeks time between the release and the international roll-out. I am not completely surprised given its stunning new looks . According to CNET report,
Unsurprisingly the hard-to-get tablet has been moving briskly on the service, reaching just less than 12,000 sales in the two-week period between the U.S. launch and the iPad 2′s launch in 25 additional international countries.
This year US residents got 65 percent of iPad 2’s compared to a mere 35 percent of first generation iPads last year. According to the eBay data Canada and Russia have imported a large number of the second generation iPads with Russia in lead for the highest average mark-up. The 16 GB WiFi iPad 2 was sold for $697 on auction compared to Apple’s original price of $499 and it has gone way up to a $406 bonus for 64GB 3G model, the star version of iPad 2. It seems like the economical 16GB WiFi and the expensive 64GB 3G models has been the highly preferred versions on eBay.
