The new version of iPad is going to get unveiled in a few days time. ABI Research has released some impressive sales figures about the existing version.
ABI Research is a New York based marketing firm. According to its data, there were 4.5 million tablet computers shipped into 2010 and iPad made the most of this tablet craze. iPad alone amounts to 93 percent in it. So Apple managed to sell more than than 4 million units in a single quarter.
While speaking about Apple’s dominance in the market, Senior Practice Director of ABI Research Jeff Orr said, “Over time, Apple’s first-to-market iPad advantage will inevitably erode to some extent.” The competitors are hoping to change things in 2011, with the launches of many new tablet computers. Let us see whether any of them can pose a real challenge to iPad.
