The Washington Post introduced its new App for iPad, now available for free until February, 2011 on the App Store. The standout feature of this app is its innovative social media and sharing capabilities and its cool multimedia features to provide a great news experience for iPad users.
The users should have an account in their website or they can register within the app. The Washington Post for iPad is compatible with iPads running iOS 3.2 or later.
After Mid-Feb 2011 the print newspaper subscribers will pay $.99 per month and non-subscribers will pay $3.99 per month to access all the app’s content.
Other than ‘Live Topic’ pages, multimedia like videos and sideshows are available. The regular news content can also be saved for offline reading. Articles can be shared via Twitter, Facebook and email, etc. Comprehensive content like Breaking News, Politics, Business, World News, Opinion, Sports, Lifestyle and Entertainment is also available in the app.
The app delivers the most recent content, and not intended to read through the Post’s archives which will be available only from its website. There are some disappointments too – the current features and usability design don’t really seem to worth a subscription fee.
